A Doula is a professional trained in childbirth who supports a pregnant person and Partner during, pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. The word "Doula" comes from the Greek term meaning "servant to mother". A Doula offers physical, informational, and emotional support to the family, or intended family. They are trained, highly skilled, and a valuable member of the birth team. Doulas are not medical professionals, and do not perform clinical tasks, nor should they replace a Midwife, OB, or Medical Personnel.
